A team from PC consultants took their place on the water alongside nine other teams for the inaugural Dragon Boat Race, recently held at Island Harbour in support of Wessex Cancer Support, raising £19,000 for the charity.

Spectators were welcome at the event, lining the harbour and riverbank to enjoy the Dragon Boat races and cheer the teams along, in addition to enjoying a bar, food and shoreside entertainment, including face-painting, balloon modelling, prizegiving and after-party DJ set from ‘Our Girl G’.

The Dragon Boat Race consisted of 10 teams, each made up of 10 rowers and 1 drummer who battled side by side, across three heats in ornate boats along the 200 meter course, with three electrifying qualifying heats and fastest teams racing in the Grand Final for the top three spots, with the champions receiving an engraved trophy and medals.

The team from PC consultants raced alongside Biscoes Solicitors, Datum Electronics, IW Round Table, Robin Hill, Snap Fitness IOW, Solent Cruises, Thalia Waste Management, W H Brading and WRS. With the event sponsored by Rouse, WH Brading and Biscoes Solicitors.

Following three gruelling heats, the team from PC Consultants made the grand final and after a hard fought but fun race came in 2nd place behind WH Brading with WRS in third place. From the success of this year’s event, the Dragon Boat Race is expected to return in 2026 to become a regular feature of the charities many important fund raising activities that take place each year.
