For the past 10 years PC Consultants has supported Shine. A charity formed in 1966, supporting everyone living with spina bifida, hydrocephalus and related conditions.
This year’s fundraising event mimicked a traditional balloon race, but a virtual one conducted online, environmentally friendly, simple and fun. With companies buying virtual balloons and releasing them to travel the globe based on weather conditions. The event also aimed at encouraging everyone to ‘Go Yellow for Shine’, raising awareness in addition to providing vital funds to support the Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida communities.
Liz Gunson, Head of Communications and Data at Shine comments: “PC Consultants have been supporting Shine’s work for 10 years now. The most recent support is for Go Yellow for Shine, an annual fundraising campaign. Almost all the resources at Shine are only made possible because of fundraising and the support of companies just like PC Consultants, ensuing we can continue providing our vital support for free to Shine members.”
In total 1,881 virtual balloons were launched with the PC Consultants balloon travelling 593 kilometres before ‘popping’ at a height of 39,543 meters, above the Bay of Biscay. The race eventually won by Marla Tube Fittings of Alcester, whose balloon travelled 1,344 kilometres.
PC Consultants continue their support for Shine supporting their important and specialised work, offered at all stages of life, from before birth (supporting parents through pregnancy) right throughout early years, starting school, going to university or starting work, and living independently. Aside from offering tailored, one-to-one support to members, and information sessions, they also work to create a supportive Shine community through social events and campaigns.
